Top 5 Wednesdays: Auto-Buy Authors

It’s a little ironic that this is the prompt for this week, since it fits in so nicely with yesterday’s Top 10 Tuesday post! I actually thought I’d recently mentioned my auto-buy authors, so I was a bit surprised to see that my most recent post on this topic was all the way back in July 2019. To be fair, I don’t think my answer has changed very much. All of those authors are still the ones that I’d automatically buy any time I see something new, although I think Patrick Ness might be a little more questionable since I haven’t really read any of his books since A Monster Calls. There are a few authors I can think of who I generally think of as an auto-buy author, but then realized that it doesn’t quite fit. For example, I tend to think of Seanan McGuire as an autobuy author because of Middlegame and the Wayward Children series, but then I realized that she probably doesn’t count since I don’t buy the October Daye series. I also noticed that my original list was mostly fantasy authors, and I definitely have a lot more thriller authors and even YA authors that I’d now consider auto-buy authors. Since I’m not going into detail on each one, I think it’s only fair to list more than 5.
