It’s kind of become an on-going joke by now that books with houses on the cover are nearly always automatically added to my TBR when I see them. I don’t even know why this is such a pattern, but for some reason any time a book has houses or a neighbourhood on the cover, I want to read it. Actually, thinking about it now, that seems to mostly be the case for thrillers. I definitely have some romances with houses on the cover too, but it’s less of an instant draw. I wish I could figure out what it was about house covers that always interests me. I guess in a way I find them creepy or somehow ominous. I also generally tend to love domestic thrillers, so a house on the cover can also be a pretty good signal that the book falls into that category. It definitely didn’t take me long to look back at my Goodreads TBR and pick out 10 books that have houses of some kind on them. Actually, I even noticed that it’s not just houses, but also entrances to houses!
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Darkly lit houses do seem to be a big trend for domestic thriller covers.

This is a unique pick! I don’t think I’ve seen any other TTT posts that mentioned houses this week. 🙂
