This was one of those prompts that I was absolutely convinced I had already done not too long ago, to the point where I even thought I remembered some of the books that I’d chosen. When I went back through my posts to try to find the previous one to make sure I didn’t duplicate all my choices, I realized that it didn’t actually exist! The most recent post I could find involving animals was from literally one year ago, and that was about animals from books, not necessarily a cover-specific prompt. I find it so confusing when I have such a distinctive memory of making a post on a topic only to find that it never happened! In any case, at least it meant that most of the options I had in mind could safely be used without being repeats. Even with that in mind, I still decided to look through some of the more recent additions to my list to see what other animals I’d find, and I especially was on the lookout for more unusual animals instead of just dogs and cats every time. I was surprised that I managed to find quite a variety! I was a little surprised that there pages of my TBR with lots of animals, and then huge gaps where not a single cover showed any animals. It’s possible that I may have missed a few if the animal wasn’t shown very prominently, though.
